Rebirth of Instant Polaroid…
Rebirth of Instant Polaroid…the Joy and Fun is Back!

.
Who doesn’t love the classic easy, instant snap and creamy developing innovations from Polaroid cameras and films? I think anyone who has ever had an early inkling for capturing images made with a fun and affordable camera has very fond memories of Polaroid fun products. They are truly unique.
Well, as many folks already know, the Polaroid company officially stopped making its unique instant films sometime back in 2007. It was a disappointing end for sure, to over 60 colour-filled years of superb innovations, captured memories – ranging from family vacations, new births, joyful birthdays, Christmas celebrations, backyard barbeques, camping trips, plus so much more. There may never be anything like it again.
Back in 2008, I added an article on my Scribd social page ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/4334625/Gone-in-an-Instant-End-Of-An-Era-At-Polaroid ) , written by Geoff Dyer, which re-capped a bit of nostalgic history from one of modern technology’s best breakthroughs, that impacted millions of people and their lives worldwide. Since that announcement, I too was ready to say goodbye to Polaroid, though I kept my old Spectra on a bookshelf at home as a memento. I just couldn’t part with it – yet.
To my surprise, a couple of weeks ago, I received an unusual email (I am now on so many company email lists – I can’t keep up!) which had links to various new and innovative technology. And, being the ‘curious george’ as I am usually, I followed some of the links. At some point I ended up at a website with a title in huge b&w fonts that read ImPossible. I was about to close the page, thinking that this site was another gimmick. But, when I noticed very unusual, but captivating images of people and products, I decided to browse a little longer (it’s a really BEAUTIFUL website!). It was really the fact that the Polaroid name kept popping up (surprisingly, as it never does anymore), so, I wanted to know why. And, after a while, I found the answer.
Thanks to some of Polaroid’s former team of workers, including engineers and managers, who took over one of the original company buildings in Germany, the instant exposure film has been given a new and promising least on a long life! ImPossible ( http://www.the-impossible-project.com/ ) has revived, and is reproducing better products for previous generations of fans and users, plus a whole new generation of photo enthusiasts!
If you loved the look of old Polaroids, and wish to get back to testing your creative eye on a delightful piece of technology, then please pay a visit to the ImPossible website (now with offices in Vienna, Tokyo, and New york) to witness for yourself the re-making of something extra special, which will continue to impact people’s lives for generations more.
Keep on shooting great pictures – everyone!
